The Joseph Stein Young Actors Studio was created in 2006 as Northern Indiana’s first professional musical theatre training for kids. In its first year, the acting camps and classes centered around Disney’s High School Musical. The next year brought Willy Wonka Jr and The Music Man Jr to the stage. Campers have traveled to Amish Acres from the likes of Bloomington, Carmel, Valparaiso, Fort Wayne, New Carlisle, Griffith, and Edwardsburg, Michigan; not to mention Bristol, Plymouth, Rochester, Granger, Goshen, Elkhart, Nappanee, Wakarusa and Bremen.
Not only do campers perform on the Round Barn Theatre’s proscenium stage under the direction and instruction of the talented forces of the Round Barn Theatre, but they have a Blast doing so! From pizza parties and wagon rides to spelling bees in the one room schoolhouse and tours of the costume and set shop, the campers experience musical theatre from top to bottom. Friendships are made while talent is developed and honed.
