"On Thursday, July 29, 2004, I escorted a group
of 27 from the First Church Of God Primetimer from St. Joseph, Michigan,
to see the performance of South Pacific at 2:00 p.m. Everyone
enjoyed the show very much. Very entertaining. One of our group has
seen the movie and other stage productions in the past and remarked
how this was the best of all. Please congratulate the cast on a GREAT
JOB!!"

Based on "Tales Of The South Pacific"
by James Michener
Book: Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan
Music: Richard Rodgers
Lyrics: Oscar Hammerstein II
South Pacific is one of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s
greatest and most beloved musical collaborations. Based on the novel,
Tales of the South Pacific by James Michener, the musical boasts such
classic songs as Some Enchanted Evening, Honey Bun, Wash That Man
Right Outta My Hair, Younger Than Springtime and the haunting Bali
Ha’i.
The dashing young Lieutenant Joe Cable and the feisty nurse Nellie
Forbush both find themselves dealing with prejudices against the backdrop
of World War II. Cable falls in love with a native Tonkinese girl
and Nellie discovers that the dashing French plantation owner, Emile
Debeque, that she has been dating has two children by a previous marriage
to a native island woman.
While Joe struggles with his feelings and fears, Nellie decides to
face and conquer her prejudices for a chance at happiness. This dramatic
tale also includes a number of colorful characters who provide lots
of upbeat comedic moments as well, like the fast-talking Luthor Billis,
a seabee with his fingers in several side-lines and Bloody Mary, a
native woman who makes a living selling souvenirs to the men stationed
on the island. This show is a visual feast as well as a treat for
the ears.
