Theme Dinners in the Barn Loft Grill

White table cloth events with menus to match the Broadway musical they celebrate.

On several Friday nights, preceding each musical in the Round Barn Theatre, savvy patrons are savoring the theme buffets that Amish Acres concocts that set the atmosphere for the evening of stage magic to come. Menus are carefully designed to reflect the life and times of the musical that evening. The spirit and locale of each musical is celebrated with its own menu. This dining experience is designed to provide a romantic interlude between your day and the magic of live musical theatre. Joseph Stein, author of Plain and Fancy and Fiddler on the Roof said, "Yours is my favorite of all the regional theatres with which I have worked."
The musical may be called Plain and Fancy, but these dinners will have "Plenty of..." everything, from Asparagus to Unions, including watermelon pickles, Swiss steak with mushrooms with juniper and roasted acorn squash with cinnamon in heaping portions to fill your plate.
The theatre inspired dinners have been designed by Amish Acres to complement and celebrate the musical theatre festival that has grown from the beginning of Plain and Fancy in 1986 to the present seven show, nine month, repertory season that has made the Round Barn Theatre one of the most important regional theatres in the country.
Menus are conceived by Richard Pletcher and created by chef Ruth Miller. Show references and double entendres, no matter how obscure or ridiculous, are often highlighted in bold letters. Recipes are prepared by Ruth whose sense of humor is stirred into the pot and skillet. All menu items are subject to change by the whim of the chef. The responsibility for such frovility rests soley with Richard Pletcher.
The Barn Loft Wine Tasting Room offers free tastings and special bottle pricing during each of the Theme Dinners.
Reservations are required for these theme dinners which are open to ticket holders for the Friday evening performance. Call the Box Office at (800) 800-4942.
