Make Memorial Day Weekend Memorable with Summer's First Picnic and a Day Down on the Farm

Sarah and her new friendDuring this weekend of reflection, remembrance, and recreation, we celebrate our freedom that we have been given by those who have made the supreme sacrifice. We can never forget. Our prayers are personal, our reflection is community, and our recreation is celebration of the family.

King of the roostOnly through sacrifices made by patriotic Americans over the centuries can one imagine the freedom to live and worship as one pleases. Amish Acres represents through Amish culture one of the world's best examples of people living with different convictions in peace and harmony.

So come Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (Special lodging packages make a getaway a wonderful respite) and celebrate with us Summer's First Picnic and a Day Down on the Farm.

LlhamaThe old Barn Restaurant will feature its new Summer Luncheon Menu, Famous Threshers Dinner, and Summer Picnic Buffet throughout the long weekend.

Holiday admission to Amish Acres will give you the background and history of these fascinating people who have lived in the Nappanee area for nearly two centuries. In the German One Room Schoolhouse, school's out for the summer! You'll celebrate with games in the playground. The teeter totter will be in constant motion, horseshoes will clink, the kids can milk Betsy the Cow and harness Henry the Wooden Horse, a pick-up volley ball game and pin the tail on the donkey have no age limit. There is fishing with worms in the farm's pond and swan paddle boat rides on the water.

Baby LambThe baby lamb and goat are still drinking from a bottle, the calf is getting used to its long legs in the pasture, the turkeys, chickens, and roosters are roaming the orchard basking in the sun.

The team of Belgium horses will be pulling the farm wagon down the lane to shuttle you between events and happenings.
